Erik Penny’s “Sofa Sessions” return to the cozy Michelberger lobby, just in time for the holiday season in Berlin! However you celebrate, this early Sunday evening acoustic concert, preceded by a steaming Glühwein in the courtyard, is the perfect place to join friends and stoke the holiday cheer!
This time around, Erik welcomes the wonderfully authentic and direct Sarah Buckley from Cork, Ireland, as his special guest. Named a “great storyteller” with a knack for “beautiful lyricism” by the BBC, Sarah brings her newly-released “Wind Chimes EP” to the stage, framing her songs in the simplicity of guitar and her “stunning” Irish accent.
The evening will also serve as a celebration for Erik’s new EP, “I See Love”. Written and recorded in the space in time immediately following the pandemic, the 5 songs bask in the joy of reconnecting and the release of finding the simple things again. Featuring contributions from Pola Roy (Wir Sind Helden), Earl Harvin (Tindersticks, Air), Markus Runzheimer (Element of Crime), Martin Kelly (Thees Ulmann, Annette Louisan), and Oliver Varga (Christina Stürmer), the EP is a testament to the longevity of friendship and the joy of making music together, even when apart.
